Learn. Connect. Support Mental Health.
NAMI Eastside's annual fundraiser will be held this October in Redmond, and serve as a reminder of the healing power of togetherness. We are in our first year at the new Together Center, a first-of-its-kind take on community support, and this event will benefit and enrich the minds that make that community. Take a little time to learn a lot and make meaningful connections on October 5th.
Guests at our luncheon this year will be doing an invaluable service to us all by supporting NAMI Eastside's mission to provide mental health support, education, and advocacy for individuals and families in our community.
Special Guests

Surgeon General Vivek Murthy
Dr. Vivek H. Murthy was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in March 2021 to serve as the 21st Surgeon General of the United States. As the Nation's Doctor, he took the office's mission seriously to help lay the foundation for a healthier country, and he has been especially diligent about safeguarding the mental health of our Nation's youth.
Raised in Miami, Dr. Murthy received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard, and his MD from the Yale School of Medicine. He is a renowned physician, research scientist, entrepreneur, and even a mango aficionado, but notably, he is the author of the bestselling book Together: "The Healing Power of Human Connection in a Sometimes Lonely World".

Congresswoman Kim Schrier
Representative Kim Schrier, M.D. represents the 8th congressional district that includes much of the Eastside. She is a pediatrician by practice, but a politician fueled by passion, who ran for office for the first time in 2018 after 16 years at Virgina Mason Medical Center in Issaquah. Informed advocacy on healthcare issues is a core aspect of NAMI, and she is a prime example of this. In 2022, U.S. Representatives Kim Schrier, M.D. and Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., the only two women doctors in Congress, introduced the Supporting Children’s Mental Health Care Access Act to help address the crisis in children’s mental health care exacerbated by the pandemic.

Support Our Work
This year’s theme of “Coming Together" alludes to one of the core missions of this conference and NAMI Eastside. The Luncheon is built to raise awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental health for all age groups. Reminding people to speak their mind is not only encouragement to be open and honest about your mental health, but it is also recognition that prior generations can learn from this one.
